Vía Orgánica

Vía Orgánica promotes healthy living and a sustainable future through programs involving regenerative agriculture. As its vision, the organization hopes to make local produce, local trade and social justice accessible to as many people as it can reach. At the root of this, community involvement distinguishes its programs because of the pride it instills into those who partake in its Agroecological Park, Restaurant and Cafe, horticulture workshops, pesticide-free harvests and courses to earn degrees in related fields. The organization was established to connect independent farmers to consumers who wanted locally-sourced meats and produce, in a country where 85% of these are exported externally.

Alternare A.C.

Alternare A.C. works to conserve hibernation locations of the Monarch butterflies by involving rural local communities in the maintenance and preservation of these places. The organization’s sustainable integral development model provides indigenous farming communities with the knowledge and skills necessary to use their surrounding resources in a sustainable and efficient manner. The Training Center for local community farmers, which hosts visiting companies, speakers and agriculture workshops, can be found within the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve. This grants multiple benefits for both the butterfly populations, their habitats, the people who tend to them in the reserve and visitors who learn from this development model.
